Word processing package, such as word 2007 helps in entering text, and manipulating word and phrases. You can change typed letter, document and report easily and store them for future use. You can even print these document as and when desired . Thus, document created on a word processor can be made accurately, giving better look and printed for use.
There are some Function/Function of MS-Word
- Word Wrap : A word processor automatically moves the text to the next line when you type beyond the right margin. This is known as Word Wrap.
- Editing of Text : With a word processor, you can insert new words, new sentences or paragraphs anywhere in the text typed earlier. The new text will get adjusted automatically. Similarly, you can delete any portion of the text and the remaining part of the matter will get adjusted automatically.
- Selection : A selection is a group of words that are put together. A word processor can perform various operation on a selection, such as copying, moving or deleting.
- Moving/Copying selection : You can move a selection to another location in the same document or copy the text at another location with the help of a word processor.
- Search and Replace :With a word processor, you can search for any specified word or character in a document and replace it with another word as desired. For example, suppose you want to replace the word DISC in a document with DISK. You can simply use the search and replace feature of a word processor to do the same.
- Dictionary/Grammar Check : You can check spellings and locate errors in your document by using a Word 2007. The facilities available in most of the word processor package including Word 2007. To check spelling in every word off the text you can use the dictionary available in Word 2007.
- Character Styles and Sizes : You can change the type and size of character so that a printed document appears more attractive and professional . You can use bigger and bold letters for main headings. You can use italic character to emphasize a word. Some example of style and size of characters are shown below.
- Header,Footer and Page Numbering :A Header is a special text which is printed at the top of each page above the normal text. A Footer is a special text which is printed at the bottom of each page. Word 2007 can generate page numbers automatically in a document, and also print header and footer on each page.
- Margins and Columns : The left and right margin are the distances between the text and the left and right edges of the paper. It is normally one inch but you can adjust it easily. You can also print text in two or more columns as in a newspaper.
- Line spacing : In a word processor, the spacing between the lines can be adjusted. You can leave one or more blank lines between every two typed lines but the default line spacing for a word processor is single line spacing. When one line is left blank between two typed lines, it is known as double line spacing This kind of spacing is normally used for draft letter.
- Tab Setting : You can set tabs in a word processor for typing columns in a document as in the case of a typewriter. You may want to use the ruler to set Manual tab stops at the left side, middle and right side of your document .
- Tables : A table is made up of rows and columns of cell that you can fill with text and graphics. Tables are used to organize and present information, but they have a variety of other uses as well. You can use them to align numbers in columns, and then sort and perform calculations.
- Text Formatting : Text formatting is other function of MS-word it used to change the style text like Font it provide a many types of font for your character/text/document ex. Arial black ,fort,Georgia, times new roman . we change colors, size,bold,give a underline ,subscript, superscript,etc.
- Hyperlink and bookmark :We also use a hyperlink and bookmark in ms-word.When we attached URL any image,text,shapes and we click on it transfer another page,site etc. it's called a Hyperlink.
- Cross-references : Refer to item such as headings,figure and table by inserting a cross-references such as ,"see Table 6 below" or "Turn to table 8". Cross-reference are automatically updated if the content is moved to another location, By default, cross-references are inserted as hyperlink.
- Signature line: – The signature link uses are mostly related to legalities of the document. Such as in government notification PDF files and legal notices signed with a stamp at the end of the page. This is similar to Microsoft Word that government notification letters can use a signature line or they can add a digital signature at the spot. Also, any word user can insert a signature line at the end of the document or paragraph which specifies the individual who must sign or signed. Also, digital signature used in mostly Income tax return, company audit and company registration numbers and can be used in related legal documents.
